The Scientific Tourist: What Is It?

Editorial

“Le Touriste Scientifique”is a journal published by theMaster’s program in Sports Tourism Management at the UFR-STAPS in Montpellier. This master’s program trains future specialists in management, tourism, and sports recreation (more than 800 professionals since 1992).

Our program stands out for its dual focus on tourism and sports, which gives it a unique multidisciplinary approach. Students from diverse backgrounds bring real added value to this master’s program thanks to their varied skills. The goal of this program is to strengthen the fundamentals of management, develop an in-depth understanding of the key players and challenges in sports tourism, and deepen students’ expertise in this specific field. Beyond the professional aspect, the research-oriented curriculum enables students to develop critical thinking skills and become specialists in a specific area of focus.

As students in this program, we are committed to addressing the new challenges facing our society in the areas of tourism and sports. Changes in behavior and lifestyle, as well as the emergence of new needs, are driving us to bring a fresh perspective, to innovate, and to give meaning to this demand.

Our journal focuses on contemporary sports tourism. We publish scholarly articles written by master’s students that explore various disciplines related to sports tourism. Our goal is to showcase students’ work to industry professionals, thereby fostering a lasting connection between the university and the business world. You’ll find research articles based on the master’s thesis projects of first-year master’s students.

All of these publications are reviewed by social science researchers at the UFR-STAPS in Montpellier (SantESiH team, UR_UM211).
